Android App review: Wifi Analyzer

Here's a nifty little Android App that can surely find a place in your toolbox. WiFi Analyzer from Farproc.

WiFi Analyzer lets you see the wireless networks around you, the strength of the signal, the channels they operate in, get the MAC addresses and IP addresses, plot a time graph on the variations in signal strengths and even suggest you which channel to set your wireless router to to get around local interferences.

The last point above is really cool, especially if you live in an urban environment, where there can be significant interferences from other WiFi networks.
 

 

As you can see with the screenshot on the left, my network (JAAS) was actually sharing the same channel as my neighbor's wireless network. I used the recommendation of the app to change to Channel 6 and now enjoy vastly better network reach. 

The App is free to download and is ad supported, but also comes with an option to hide the ads. Kudos to the developer Farproc for that.

Whats Cool?

• The ribbed left side earphone cable. Easily distinguish Left earpiece from Right even in the dark. Very Clever!
• Discrete 3.5mm jack. Golden plated pin with red rings
• Braided cable and built in clip to decrease cable entanglement and his really works!!

Whats not?

• Sound quality leaves a lot to be desired, across the spectrum
• The earpieces do not really feel premium
• The rubber plugs could be a lot softer

I'd rather suggest the Sennheiser CX150 for this money. The sound quality is simply better

Sony CX52 32inch review

what prompted me to write this blogpost is the discrepancy in revies for this Sony television on the wider world web.

The model in question is the Sony Bravia KDLCX523 32inch.
Let me quickly put it out...

Dessert first.
Doesnot support MTV files. Heck it doesn't even show it
Doesnot support NTFS file system. This is a real deal breaker, but there is a way out the Telly does do exFAT, so those big HD files can reside on ur USB drives.

Main course.
Decent picture quality
Audio also acceptable, decently loud and clear voice.
Interface is very good, looks like its come off the PS3 and its a cream!
Connectivity is also excellent for the price.
Internet applications are plentiful and good. The best part is u can use your iPhone iPad or Android device to control your tv, this includes text input in web applications like YouTube Facebook etc.
I also faced difficulty displaying my highres images. I will have to dig deeper to understand why

for the price this is decent TV
